According to several statistics, the current population is increasingly composed of adults over 65 years of age. Within this group, dementias are appearing more frequently and at younger ages with greater severity. So, there are more bedridden patients with multiple clinical conditions. Due to the challenge that this represents for oral health professionals, this course aims to explain non-pharmacological management techniques to achieve dental treatments adapted according to the level of clinical and behavioral challenges of each patient.

Dr. Juan Luis Molina
Graduate of the School of Dental Medicine-UPR. He began at the State Psychiatric Hospital (1996) doing a mandatory year of service. Later he has remained under contract until the present. Since 1998, he began to treat patients from the Hospital of Forensic Psychiatry. Since 2003, he is the Director of the Dental Service of the Department of Health of Puerto Rico for Adult with Intellectual Disabilities (DSPDI). Since 2012, he began to help bedrid-den and hospice patients at their homes. Starting in 2016, he began as an Auxiliary Professor in the Department of Ecological Sciences, teaching non-pharmacological management of adults with disabilities.

ADA CERP is a service of the American Dental Association to assist dental professionals in identifying quality providers of continuing dental education. ADA CERP does not approve or endorse individuals courses or instructors, nor does it imply acceptance of credits hours by boards of dentistry. University of Puerto Rico, School of Dental Medicine desig-nates this activity for 3 hours continuing credits.
